Dolores Nyhus Memorial Award & Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Outstanding Dietitian of the Year is the highest award that a California Academy member can receive in honor of the late Dolores Nyhus. This Award recognizes the commitment to excellence made by an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to the profession.

The award recognizes the commitment to excellence made by an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to the profession. The recipient:

• Has lived and worked professionally in California for a minimum of 15 years.
• Has had significant impact in the field of nutrition and dietetics.
• Has made a significant contribution that improved the standards of dietetic practice and/or the goals of the profession I) in the workplace or II) within CA Academy.
• Has given outstanding service to the professional association through active participation as a committee member, officer, or evidenced action beyond general participation.
• Has been a mentor to nutrition professionals or students

For demonstrated leadership in Academy Of Nutrition and Dietetics/California and other professional associations related to an area of private practice, business or communications dietetics. This includes active participation in district or state dietetic association. Has demonstrated leadership in: a) establishing and participating in innovative approaches to private practice, business or consultation with health care facilities, business or communications; and b) teaching others about private practice, business or consultation with health care facilities, business or communications. Has presented one or more talks, seminars and other educational events concerning health care facilities, business or communications to professional group; or has published articles or other publications concerning private practice, business or consultation.
