Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most commonly asked questions we receive about Vandana Sheth and her services!

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! Vandana Sheth is an in-network medical provider (Not behavioral health provider) for Original Medicare, Blue cross and Blue Shield. Medicare currently only covers seeing a dietitian for diabetes and or kidney disease. If you are contracted with any other health insurance company, payment is due at the time of service. If you have out of network benefits and would like to file a claim for reimbursement, we may be able to provide a superbill.

Insurance will only cover the 1:1 time we spend together. Any additional time provided as part of the coaching program such as accountability, support including journal review between sessions is not covered.

How do I know if my insurance will cover your services?

We do not provide any insurance verification services.
We encourage you to contact your insurance company and ask these questions:

  • Does my plan cover medical nutrition therapy?

  • Does my plan have any restrictions about the type of diagnosis covered?
  • Is there a limit to the number of sessions?
  • Do I have a deductible?
  • What is my co-payment?
  • Do I have both in and out of network benefits?

What is your cancellation policy?

Should your availability change, please extend the respect of cancelling at least 24 hours in advance so that others may benefit from our limited session space. You will be responsible for 50% of the total session fee for any cancellation within 24 hours of your appointment or if you fail to keep your commitment of showing up to your appointment.

We don't live in the same state. Can we still work together?

Yes, our nutrition coaching program is available to you regardless of where you live and is not billed through insurance. Medical Nutrition Therapy is restricted to those who live in California, Arizona and a few other states due to licensing laws. We can discuss this when we connect.

What is your experience?

Since 1997 I have worked in many different settings as a dietitian. I started my career as a clinical dietitian at a community hospital and this was a great starting point. It allowed me to strengthen my clinical knowledge and skills. I also worked in dialysis centers, worked for a home health agency (primarily did telehealth sessions), and at an outpatient diabetes center. Although I enjoyed the variety of settings, I especially enjoyed working one on one with my clients and being able to help them prevent and better manage their health conditions in an outpatient setting. I also enjoyed speaking/writing and was doing freelance work simultaneously with some of my other roles. I fell into the media spokesperson role as I started speaking to reporters when I was working as a clinical dietitian. All of these led to my decision to start my private practice and become an entrepreneur.

My days now are filled with a variety of roles – Dietitian Nutrition Coach, Diabetes Care Specialist, Intuitive Eating Coach, Media Spokesperson, Professional Speaker, Freelance Writer, Medical Reviewer, and Recipe Developer.

Why canโ€™t I Google the information I need instead of seeing you?

Information and knowledge can be very helpful. However, we are now at the point that there is too much information. A lot of it can be contradictory and confusing. You need the expertise of a professional to sift through the overwhelm and provide you with guidance that is tailored specifically for you.

Why should I choose to work with you?

I believe that you are unique. There is no cookie-cutter approach to eating healthy. I will show you how to enjoy food without guilt and shame, use mindfulness and an intuitive eating approach and build a customized plan that is realistic and sustainable. You will gain a holistic foundation of core pillars that create a healthy lifestyle. Through our work together you will create and achieve realistic goals with accountability and support. You will learn how food affects your energy level, blood sugar, metabolism and find simple ways to enjoy your favorite foods. You will be able to navigate food decisions with ease no matter where you are and thrive. Identify triggers and find ways to address them. You will stack wins and stay excited about your health and wellness journey.

I want to be able to enjoy Indian food but need help managing my diabetes. Can you help?

Yes, having been born and raised in India, I am especially excited to help clients of an Indian origin. I am very familiar with the food, culture and traditions. You can absolutely enjoy Indian food to better manage your diabetes and I will show you how.

I have tried so many diets on and off throughout my life. How do I know that your coaching program will work for me?

Diets donโ€™t work and it is not your fault. Behavior change takes time.

In the VIP Coaching Program, I have a proven system with my 4-step framework that takes clients on a journey to achieve their goals. I will show you a step by step slow and sustainable process for positive behaviors. The key is to have small and consistent daily actions over time to see results. Having a program that includes accountability and support to help you stay on track and to motivate you through the process has been a game changer for our clients. For the coaching program to work, you need to fully commit to the process, be coachable, and do the work. I will be right there with you providing all the resources, education and support you need. But, ultimately it’s your journey and you have to take consistent action.

Will you give me a diet chart or meal plan at the first session?

Not really. I believe that for you to have long term success with your health and wellness goals, we need to collaborate to create habits including meal planning, prep ideas.ย  This comes over time. You will be given all the resources you need including meal ideas, snack ideas, recipes, grocery shopping lists to support you in your journey as part of your coaching program.

What is your privacy policy?
